A new way of keeping your web pages visited ready to hand . . .
Introduction
This article has been written initially for Windows® 95 and IE® 5. Recently I have found that cleaning history under XP® and with IE® 6 works even worse than under Windows® 95! From 4938 items in history still 3215 have been visible after deleting history in IE® . If the index.dat file is not deleted, it can be easily read with any text editor or other programs. Now, thanks god, there are some new methods and techniques available especially for XP Pro® that are described here. It is almost impossible for the user of XP Home® to delete any of the index.dat files, especially when the system does not provide DOS® access during booting. In my opinion, this is a very severe bug in all Windows® operating systems! Only few of the third party tools can do it and are still leaving the full control of what will be deleted by the user. For more information please refer to the next page presenting a very elegant solution that works without any risk of deleting other additional files for XP Pro® as well as for XP Home® .
